Rob McNaught (born 1956), British-Australian astronomer. McNaught works at the research school of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Australian National University. He has discovered numerous asteroids and several comets, including Comet McNaught (C/2006 P1), the brightest comet for 40 years, which he identified on 7th August 2006. The telescope is the Uppsala-Schmidt Telescope used in the Siding Spring Survey. Photographed in Siding Spring Observatory, New South Wales, Australia.
