MODEL RELEASED. Intravenous drip and sick bowl. Child patient with kidney stones holding a sick bowl and connected to an intravenous drip. Kidney stones are chemicals that have crystallised out of the urine forming a stone, or stones, somewhere along the urinary tract. The main symptoms are pain and nausea. Immediate treatment might include painkillers, medication to prevent sickness, or intravenous fluids. A drip is a good way to deliver saline, which is used to replace body fluids in dehydrated patients, or to administer medication. Photographed at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh, UK.
