Telegraph messenger boys. Boys in uniform, working as messengers for a postal telegraph system. Telegraphy allowed messages to be sent over long distances, but the final stage of the journey still required messengers to deliver the telegram. Photographed in December 1910, in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. Child labour was still present in the USA in the early years of the 20th century. This photograph is from the archives of the US National Child Labor Committee.
