19th century model of a cow's jaw. Coloured plaster moulding of a cow's lower jaw (mandible), showing the tongue, teeth, bone, and muscle structure. The opening to the throat (pharynx, top), along with the epiglottis (red, top), can also be seen. This anatomical model was made by Andre Richir in about 1950 as a veterinary teaching aid. Photographed in the museum of the National Veterinary School of Alfort, Maisons-Alfort, France.
