Spider (order Araneae) tending its eggs on a leaf in a tropical rainforest. The eggs have been laid on the leaf and covered with a protective cocoon spun from the spider's silk. The spider will guard this cocoon-like nest until the eggs hatch and the spiderlings are ready to leave, at which point the spider will cut open the cover. Photographed in Ecuador.
