Elasmotherium. Computer artwork of a pair of male Elasmotherium confronting one another on the ancient steppe grasslands of what is now Southern Russia. Elasmotherium were giant herbivorous mammals that lived in Eurasia about 3 million years ago, during the Late Pliocene to Middle Pleistocene epochs. Related to modern rhinos they had a single massive horn (up to 2 metres long), stood about 2.5 metres tall at the shoulder, were up to 8 metres long and weighed over 3 tonnes.
