Dominion Astrophysical Observatory (DOA). This observatory in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, was completed in 1918. At the time its telescope, the Plaskett 72-inch aperture telescope, was the second largest in the world. The observatory has been the scene for a number of important discoveries, including the rotation of the Milky Way and the first direct measurement of the temperature of the Universe.
