Copernican cosmology. This digram is from Astronomia Anglicana (1689) by the 17th century English astronomer and author Nicholas Greenwood. It shows a heliocentric solar system. The six known planets (astrological symbols) are circling the Sun. The outer circle of stars, and planetary moons, are also shown. The text at bottom references Kepler, but also emphasises the influence of God on the workings of the universe. Little is known of Greenwood, though the French astronomer Jean Baptiste Joseph Delambre (1749-1822) gave a scathing review, saying Greenwood's book was of 'no benefit' and 'entirely forgettable'.
