This 1700-metre-wide waterfall (also called Mosi-oa-Tunya, Smoke That Thunders, spray across top) is on the border between Zimbabwe (left) and Zambia (right). It forms as the Zambezi River falls into a 100-metre-deep chasm. The zig-zag canyon (bottom) was eroded from the rock by the waterfall as it retreated to its current position.
