MODEL RELEASED. Office computing. A businessman, sitting at his desk, uses a computer. The screen display shows a picture of The Mona Lisa, which was painted by Leonardo da Vinci in 1503-6. In order to get a representation of a picture onto a computer, the picture has to be 'scanned'. During 'scanning', the picture image is digitised:- a process which converts the subtle blend of paint colours into tiny but separate chunks of data. This digital data can then be reassembled by the computer to give the image. These images may then be stored and distributed.
