Water industry. Worker sampling water near the intake pipes for a waterworks. These pipes are 1.6 metres in diameter, and bring water underground from the bed of a nearby river. The water will be treated to remove sediment, and disinfected with ozone, to produce clean drinking water. The water is tested for quality at all stages of the process. This water extraction system is on the River Po in Italy, just upstream from the confluence with the River Sangone. It is operated by SMAT, the metropolitan water company of Turin, Italy.
