Influenza epidemic. Satirical artwork of the influenza epidemic of 1803, showing a group of British physicians presenting an address of thanks to a figure representing the disease. Various medical sayings associated with the doctors are included, and remedies are shown on and under the table at left. This artwork, designed by the amateur artist Temple West, was published in London by S. W. Fores on 20 April 1803. This copy is from the German book 'Die Karikatur und Satire in der Medizin' (Caricature and Satire in Medicine, 1921) by the German art historian and physician Eugen Hollander (1867-1932).
