Hiroshima memorial. This is the 'Hiroshima Monument for the A-bomb Victims', and forms part of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, in Hiroshima, Japan. This memorial park, which was opened in 1954, contains many memorials commemorating the victims of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima by US forces on 6 August 1945, towards the end of World War II. This bomb killed over 70-80,000 people instantly, and left many more injured and dying. This memorial's bronze statue ('Wind of No Return') signifies the soul of a victim going to heaven. The memorial was completed in 1982.
