William Burke (1792-1829) Irish murderer and body snatcher. Accomplice of William Hare (1790-1860) in murders and stealing of corpses to supply bodies for dissection by Edinburgh medical students and anatomists. Hanged for his crimes, while Hare turned King's Evidence. From a contemporary coloured print.
