Tommaso Inghirami, portrayed sitting at his writing desk, was a learned humanist born in Volterra in 1470. Raised at the court of Lorenzo the Magnificent, he moved to Rome when he was only thirteen and started his career as a man of letters. Awarded with titles, offices and ecclesiastical benefitsprivileges, under Julius II, he even raised to the rank of prefect of the Vatican Library. Detail.
