Zotefoam. Coloured scanning electron micrograph of Zotefoam LD45, a high density synthetic foam. Zotefoam is characterized by the relatively uniform size of the cells (irregular shapes). The cell size determines the grade of the foam. Zotefoam is used where shock insulation is required. It is used in crash helmets and in purpose-designed boxes for transporting fragile equipment such as cameras or electrical equipment. It is also used in medicine for splint supports for injuries.
