Santa Rita prickly pear (purple, Opuntia santa- rita or violacea). This cactus is found in arid regions in the south-western USA and in northern Mexico. It can reach a height of over 90 centimetres tall, and a width of over 1.5 metres. Photographed in Saguaro National Park, Arizona, USA, in the Sonoran Desert.
