Sagebrush. Shrub called the Common or Big Sagebrush, Artemesia tridentata, in front of eroded rock formations in the desert. Bitter teas brewed from sagebrush leaves were used in ancient times as a medicinal emetic or purge, and for treating respiratory ailments and intestinal worms. The fruit can also be eaten as food, whilst the leaves can be used as animal fodder. All parts of the plant can be boiled with alum to make green dye. The big sagebrush has a pungent aroma, and is one of the most common shrubs in southwest of the USA.
