Photographed in Cambodia, where the Motivation Charitable Trust began a project in 1993 to design a wheelchair for disabled people. In the absence of regular supplies of tubular steel, the design team worked with locally available hard wood to produce a three-wheel wheelchair with a wooden frame. Three wheels allow the user to cross rough ground more easily than in a conventional four-wheel chair. The flat-packed design has enabled the wheelchair to be distributed all over Cambodia, including remote rural areas.
