Genital herpes. Herpetic vesicles on a penis, caused by the sexually transmitted disease (STD) genital herpes. This STD is an infection by the herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) that causes clusters of small vesicles to appear on the genitalia. They are accompanied by headaches and fevers. There is no cure for the STD, but ulcers that arise from the ruptering of vesicles can be treated with antibiotics. In the tropics, severe cases of STDs are relatively common.
