Ciliary processes of the eye. Coloured Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM) of ciliary processes of the eye. This view looks outwards from the inner eye cavity. The eye lens is at bottom (grey). Ciliary processes (blue) form a series of about 70 radial ridges (11 seen here) arranged around the eye lens. Zonular fibres (yellow) arise from the ciliary processes and attach to the equatorial region of the eye lens. Ciliary muscles (not seen) act on these ciliary processes to control the shape of the lens and so focus images onto the retina. Remnants of the basal vitreous body (pink) are at top. Magnification: x55 at 6x7cm size. x70 at 4x5"~LANDSCAPE"
