Banknote security. Standard equipment used in the detection of counterfeit banknotes. At centre, an ultraviolet lamp can detect fluorescent ink used in real banknotes. A portable version of this lamp is at lower right. The loupe (magnifying glass) to the left of lower centre is used to look for small details and differences in print and paper quality between real and fake banknotes. The magnetic pen (lower centre) is used to detect metallic ink and strips in real banknotes. Other security features include security holograms and watermarks. Any successful counterfeiter has to imitate all of these security features. A 20-Euro banknote is seen at centre.
