Edward Evans (1881-1957), British naval officer and Antarctic explorer. Evans was second-in-command of the second Antarctic expedition led by Robert Falcon Scott that took place from 1910 to 1913. Evans was part of the supporting group that accompanied Scott's ill-fated party to within 280 kilometres of the South Pole. Evans served in the British Navy during and after World War I. He was knighted in 1935, reached the rank of Admiral (1936), and was made a baron in 1945. His books on the Antarctic included 'South with Scott' (1921).
