The remains of Paharpur Buddhist Monastery. A major tourist attraction in North Bengal, it was established by King Dharma Pal in the 7th century. Located in Paharpur village 5 km west of Jamalganj in the greater Rajshahi district, this archaeological find covers about 27 acres of land. The main temple is in the center of the Monastery. The architecture of the pyramidal cruciform temple is strongly influenced by those of Southeast Asia, especially Myanmar and Java. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Bangladesh. 1997.
