Flying Spaghetti Monster. Illustration of the entity known as the Flying Spaghetti Monster. This was a satirical creation in 2005 by physics graduate Bobby Henderson in response to a decision in the USA by the Kansas State Board of Education to allow the teaching of intelligent design in schools as an alternative to evolution. Henderson proposed the existence of an entity made of spaghetti and meatballs that was changing scientific results to conform with the principles of creationism. The Flying Spaghetti Monster has since become a symbol of opposition to the teaching of creationism.
