Aerial photograph of a lava tube at Kilauea volcano, Hawaii. The lava of Kilauea volcano is very fluid. It can form tunnels through which it flows all the way down to the sea. This tube has been exposed by a large section of Kilauea's brittle and unstable coastal area breaking off and tumbling into the ocean. Usually hidden by clouds of steam, this phenomenon is rarely seen.
