Aerial photograph of the Mont-Blanc-Massif, Italy. The glaciers at the southern flank of Mont Blanc (4810 metres) are retreating because of climate change. The ice tongues of Glacier du Brouillard (left) and Glacier de Freney (right) are partly covered by moraine debris. Meltwater rivers cut into the rock walls in front of the glaciers. Monzino Hut lies on the ridge between the glacier valleys. The dark rock pyramid of the Aiguille Noire de Peutery (3772 metres) rises at left above Glacier de Freney.
