Tiny yellow ants tending a group of planthopper nymphs on a plant stem. Ants feed on the honeydew secreted by planthoppers and other insects. Honeydew is a sugar-rich solution. The ants value this as a source of food and protect the planthoppers from predators in order to harvest it.
