Bendego Meteorite recovery. 1865 illustration of the Bendego Meteorite being recovered using a wooden ox-cart from a jungle in Brazil, in 1784. At just under 6 tons (5361 kg), the Bendego Meteorite is one of the largest meteorites ever discovered. Its great weight, along with its inaccessibility and contemporary modes of transport available at the time, made its recovery an extremely difficult task.
