Weevil larva in white campion fruit. The larva of the weevil (a type of beetle) is feeding on the seeds and pulp of the fruit of the white campion (Silene alba). This fruit, which has formed from a fertilised flower, has been cut longitudinally, exposing the interior. This plant is found in Europe, Western Asia and Northern Africa. Photographed in Europe.
