The Countess of Devon will be helped by her husband, the Earl of Devon, when she opens her domestic science school shortly at Powderham Castle, near Exeter. The 37-year-old Countess is herself an excellent cook, and will act as principal at the school. Her students will be women between 16 and 25, of School certificate standard and will pay 75 Guineas a term as fees. Guestrooms at the Castle have been turned into dormitories and the kitchens have been well equipped with saucepans and cooking utensils. 13 March 1947
