Amphibious holiday craft Filling the needs of those demanding holiday-makers who cannot decide between a fortnight on the Broads and a caravan tour , the "Otter" caravan-cum-cabin-cruiser is expected to very popular in the near future. It is the creation of 36-year-old Alan Eckford of Broxbourne , Hertfordshire whose wife and children demanded it . It costs 瞿450 plus 瞿34-10s for an outboard motor . Due to the use of modern marine laminated wood in the construction, the " Otter " is light enough to be towed by an 8-hp car. It can be launched from its undercarriage in a few minutes , no conversion being necessary . Afloat it can make 4 knots with six passengers aboard . A winch is provided with the " Otter " so that it can be quickly hauled from the water on to its undercarriage. Inside the " Otter " is a comfortable holiday headquarters , fittings include berths for four ( one double and two single) , wardrobe , built in kitchen and toilet , calor gas installation for cooking and lighting and plenty of locker space . The reinforced roof can be used as a sun deck. 6 June 1955
