Australians in London. Immigration in reverse. Of the 20,000 or so Australians who reach England in an average year something like half either remain here for several years or never return to Australia. Some are journalists or businessmen transferred to England by their firms mostly at their own request. Some are aspiring musicians actors or singers seeking wider background for their talents. But many are young men or women with no particular job awaiting them who are determined, just as their colonizing ancestors were prepared to make their own way without financial help. At a salon in Saville Row Joy Byrne puts the finishing touches to a hair treatment. Her clients include English, Americans, Canadians, French, Turks, and plenty of fellow Australians
