Help Find Newspaperman, Foreign Office Asked. For the second time within a week, the Foreign Office has been asked to help find Mr. H.A.R. Philby (pictured here), Middle East correspondent of the British Sunday newspaper The Observer, who has been missing from his home in Beirut for five weeks. Last Sunday, his wife approached the British Embassy in Beirut and asked them to makee inquiries of the Lebanese authorities about her husband's whereabouts. She then said that she had heard from him in Cairo and the inquiries were called off. Last night (Saturday), the Foreign Office in London confirmed that they had been asked by The Observer to make further inquiries about Mr. Philby. The British Embassy in Cairo has been requested by the Foreign Office to contact the United Arab Republic authorities. From 1949 - 1951 Mr. Philby was employed by the Foreign Office at the British Embassy in Washington. He worked there on a contractual basis as a temporary First Secretary. 08 November 1955.
