Smart uniforms for London's women's police. A new uniform for London's women police has been approved by the Home Office and Scotland Yard, and will be seen by the public in November. The new tunic has padded shoulders, higher lapels and to breast pockets in the style of those worn by the American women police. The detachable belt has a buckle of new design. The skirt is six piece design instead of to peace. The greatcoat is cut on service Lines with pleated back. The old black buttons are superseded by silver ones. In the design of the new uniform, the difficulty of providing pocket space for the many articles which must be carried, without spoiling the set of the garments, has been successfully overcome. Photo shows, a policewoman wearing the new greatcoat, photographed at Scotland Yard today (Tuesday). 23 July 1946
