Whale meat was served for the first time at an official luncheon in London, when the Institute of Refrigeration hld their Autumn Luncheon at the Connaught Rooms. Following permission from the Ministry of Food, the whale burger appeared on the menu as an extra course, described as being in the nature of an experiment. Some 400 guests sampled the new dish which was prepared and served on the same lines as a hamburger. 29 November 1946
