They met in Batavia. A Scots paratrooper and a Dutch girl whom he met and became engaged to when she was held by the Japanese in Batavia (Dutch East Indies) were reunited at Prestwick airport yesterday, Tuesday. 20-year-old Paton and his mother waited to greet Crecisna Blok on her arrival from Amsterdam. A temporary parting followed when Thomas returned to Glencorse hospital at Edinburgh, where he is convalescing, and Crecisna went to his mother's home at Dundonald Avenue, Johnstone, Renfrewshire, but the wedding is expected to take place within the next two months. Photo shows, Crecisna Blok of Amsterdam, photographed with her future mother-in-law, Mrs Paton (right) at Dundonald Avenue, Johnstone, Renfrewshire yesterday, Tuesday. 8 January 1947
