Appointed Chief Officer of the L F B. It was announced today that Mr Frederick William Delve, CBE, Chief Regional Fire Officer of No 5 London Region N F S, has been appointed by the General Purpose Committee of the LCC as Chief Officer of the London Fire Brigade. At 45 years of age, Mr Delve has about 25 years of experience as a fire officer behind him. He became Chief Officer of Croydon Fire Briagade in 1934, and in 1941, when the National Fire Service was established, he became deputy Inspector in Chief. mr Delve was in charge of Croydon F B, when German airforce delivered the first of its large scale daylight attacks on this country in 1940, and has since had much more experience of blitz fire fighting elsewhere.
