Work is proceeding rapidly at one of the new satellite towns at Harlow, Essex. The number of dwellings has been increased since work began to make provision for 80,000 people. This has been achieved by altering the building density to 50 per acre. Up to September 1951, a thousand dwellings had been completed, this year another 1500 are scheduled for completion, and by 1954 the yearly total will be about 2000. Dwellings consisted of semi-detached and detached houses, one room flatlets, one, two, three and four-bedroom flats, two, three, four and five bedroom houses, three, five and 10 storied flats, to and three storied houses, mansionettes and flatted houses. Shops, a clinic and a temporary cinema are also in process of completions. The nearby industrial section is also well advanced.
