Alaric of the Balti (approximately 370 - 410); the first king of the Visigoths; is part of a critical time of the Roman Empire; taking advantage of the death of Theodosius and the subsequent split in the Roman Empire of East and West to rebel against the Romans and lay siege to the Eternal City; obtaining the surrender that ended with the sack of Rome in 410.
