Space shuttle Discovery (mission 51-A, the 14th shuttle mission), showing the retrieval of Westar VI, a stranded communication satellite. Both astronauts, Dale A. Gardner & Joseph P. Astronaut Allen stands on the end of the remote manipulating arm to receive the satellite as it approaches the shuttle. Palapa B- 2, a second damaged satellite, was also retrieved & returned to earth for repair. Two other satellites, Telesat H & Syncom IV-1, were deployed during the mission, which lasted eight days from the 8th-16th November 1984.
