A species of Amazonian tick of genus Amblyomma on a human. Amblyomma is a genus of hard ticks, family Ixodidae. Ixodid ticks are vectors of several human diseases, including Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (known as febre maculosa in Latin America) and Lyme disease. Ticks are arachnids, related to spiders, and scorpions. Photographed in the Peruvian Amazon.
