The Fer-de-lance, Bothrops atrox, is a highly venomousspecies responsible for many human fatalities within its Amazon Basin range. It is not fussy about habita and can be found almost anywhere within its range, be it native villages or primary forest. It can reach a length of over 6 feet nad imost individuals are highly agrssive when encountered at night. During the daylight hours they are much less prone to strike.
