Ecotourism helps to fund local communities struggling to keep intact the natural resources on their land. While it has had its fair share of problems, "green travel" has improved over the years, shrinking its negative impact on the environment and helping fund grass roots conservation efforts. Birding and "birders" is/are easily the largest following and subgroup that partake in ecotours around the world.
