Differential interference contrast microscopy (DIC) of desmids (Micrasterias denticulata), a unicellular, green, freshwater algae. The cells are divided into 2 hemicells, each a mirror image of the other. Micrasterias spp. are flattened, often with highly ornamented margins and usually found in acid waters including sphagnum bogs. Horizontal Field Width = 140um.
