Lambert Glacier, Antarctica, satellite image. This is a region of the glacier where the ice is moving down a steep (400 metres) slope. This is known as an icefall. The ice flow and movement is seen as the wavy curves running upper left to lower right. This is a point where ice flows off the Antarctic plateau and joins the glacier. The Lambert Glacier is the largest glacier in the world. It flows out onto the Amery Ice Shelf on the Indian Ocean side of Antarctica.
