The Mosque Fatih Camii - the Mosque of Mehmet the Conqueror. Built by 'The Conqueror' between 1463 and 1470. Architect unknown. Embraces eight Islamic medresses (religious learning schools) and their annexes along with a Hospice, public kitchen, hospital, caravansari, primary school, public bath and a graveyard with two turbes (dedicated tombs) to two Sultans. Original Mosque destroyed by Earthquake in 1766. Sultan Mustafa II immediately undertook its reconstruction and the present Mosque on a wholly different plan was completed in 1771. Thought that the only remains of the original Mosque complex are probably the courtyard, the Main Entrance Portal of the Mosque, the Mihrab, the Minarets up to the first serefe (level), the south wall of graveyard and the adjoining gate.
