View of the Anichkov Bridge, which crosses the Fontanka River in the centre of Leningrad (St Petersburg), Russia. Two of the bridge's four famous horse sculptures, collectively known as the Horse Tamers, can be seen on either side of the road. It is a busy day, with traffic and pedestrians. The large building in the background is the Imperial Anichkov Palace, renamed at this time the Pioneers Palace (Dvorets Pionerov). It has also been known as the Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace, the Sergei Palace, and the Dmitry Palace, as a result of changes in ownership and usage.
