The large building in the background is the Imperial Anichkov Palace, renamed at this time the Pioneers Palace (Dvorets Pionerov). It has also been known as the Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace, the Sergei Palace, and the Dmitry Palace, as a result of changes in ownership and usage.
