Battle of Verdun - Bois Fumin. This was a fort d'interval between Douaument and Vaux. Between Feb 1916 and Aug 1917 the battle for Verdun along a 120 mile front probably cost the lives of over 750,000 French and German lives with as many wounded and as such became a symbol of human suffering and misery in WW1. For the French Verdun was the symbol of their will to resist but nearly broke the French army.
