Above his head is one of the large radiators for the water-cooled engines, and at his feet a fire extinguisher. To the left of the look-out is one of the propeller shafts. To the rear of the gondola can be seen the reserve steering apparatus, there in case the steering gear in the forward gondola is disabled.
